Day 7: October 4, 2006
Potala Palace and around Barkhor Square
Approaching the Potala Palace, seat of the Dalai Lamas. The location on top of the hill was first used as King Songtsen Gampo's palace in the 7th century. The Fifth Dalai Lama began constructing the Potala in 1645.

Inside it is heavily guarded with lots of cameras (and no photos allowed). It is very beautiful but feels much like a rather stale museum...
